TFLN: Makeovers prevents phone disasters

[ Ivan stands at the sidewalk in front of the Lyles' house on Gold Stage, looking towards the front door but not immediately approaching. In his hands is a small bag containing some green tea cookies and two bottles of tea. It's only polite to bring something when visiting someone's house. At least, that's how it is done in Japan. Ivan has little first hand experience with these things.

About three more minutes are still needed before Ivan gathers enough courage to walk up to the door and ring the doorbell. He hopes Karina is the one who answers. There will be less explaining to do, he thinks. ]

Yeah. ( She nods in agreement. ) The kitchen might work best for those. I'll still show you where to leave them, though.

( And she turns in order to start walking down the hall, leading him to the kitchen. There's a lot of photos on the walls, mostly of Karina in her pre-Hero days. )

[ Ivan glances at the photos on the wall. She and her family look happy. They must be proud of her being a hero; they seem to be those kind of parents. Not that he has much experience with them, but he imagines what Mr. Tiger would think of Kaede.

He puts the cookies on the counter and the bottles of tea in the fridge. ]

Yeah. I put my phone in my pants pocket the whole time, so when I was bumped into on the monorail, it didn't go flying.

ahaha that is okay! i have been out for most of this past week anyway...

( That's... she's not entirely sure what to make of that statement of information apart from it's a start. )

Um, I was asking more about you, personally, but I'm glad that you didn't break another phone.

( Actually, that gives her something to think about. She goes to fill up a bottle of water at the sink, and as she does so, she asks: )

Do most of your clothes have pockets?

[ He quickly mumbles an apology for the mistake. Social Skills 101 really needs to be a required course at the Hero Academy. ]

They do, but I also have a lot of other things in them too.

[ Wallet, ID, keys to his apartment, transportation pass, origami paper, shuriken, paper shuriken... The things anyone in Stern Bild would have on them on a normal day really. ]

... You don't think that's part of the problem? It feels weird to not have pockets.

[ Maybe he could go around in a kimono and have those sleeve pockets instead! ]

No, no, no... ( She shakes her head swiftly. ) I think the problem is you either have too much stuff, or not enough pockets. What kind of stuff are you taking around? Maybe you should use a bag.

( Then again with Origami's apparent luck he would probably get robbed. She looks over at him. )

[ With his luck, he would be robbed. He was tazed once when he was out of suit, and it was not by Dragon Kid. (Though, she has also tazed him under much different, sparring circumstances.)

Ivan looks slightly upward as he starts to silently count off what he currently has in his pockets, and he's already on his second hand as it dawns on him that... he does have a lot of stuff. ]

Oh... I... think I see what you mean...

[ So the makeover might need to include a sturdy, thief resistant bag. ]

( ... She decides that she's not even going to ask what in the world he's carrying with him. ) All right, we'll add a bag to the list of things to shop for. ( From a nearby table, she picks up her hat and pulls it down over her hair. )

[ With the gifted food items left at the Lyles' house and a sort of idea in place, Ivan is ready to get started. No time like the present, and they never know when they might get a call to be heroes. He'll start heading for the door. ]

Um, yes. I think so. Where are we going?

[ He assumes she has a store or mall in mind given that she's the one heading up this makeover. If left to his own devices, they'll end up at a Japanese themed store. It's best not to let him pick. ]

( Karina chooses that moment to Origami with a grin. )

Shopping.

( But with that being said, she rattles off directions to a slightly upmarket mall further along the Gold district. It should be affordable, but barely, since Karina predominantly has her own income in mind right now. )

[ Ivan nods because he does know the place. They had a call there just last week to stop a robbery in progress. Part of the food court had been completely destroyed. (And it wasn't at all Dragon Kid's fault.) Sky High ended up getting the points, but it's hard to compete against Sky High when he has the easiest time moving between the floors of a mall.

When they get there, Ivan only dropped his phone once after being jostled by a large man with an even bigger suitcase as they got off the monorail. He feels quite proud that he managed to save his phone from toppling over the edge of the Gold Stage. The man didn't apologize to Ivan, just continued hurriedly to wherever he was heading, and Ivan acted as if it was business as usual. Because it was for him.

Staring at the the bustling shopping center filled with various teens their age, Ivan is reminded how much he... doesn't do this, things that a normal teenager might do. Somehow it fills him with a sense of awe and wonder... which is a really strange feeling given that they are just going clothes shopping. ]

Where do we even begin in here?
